Belfast Covid-19 vaccination staff 'verbally abused' while at work

Staff working endless hours at Belfast's Covid-19 Vaccination Centre have experienced "verbal abuse and unacceptable behaviours".

In a statement issued on Wednesday night by the Belfast Trust, an appeal was put out for service users to treat staff with respect and dignity.

While the Trust emphasised that the majority of those attending the centre are appreciative, there are some who do not carry these traits.

Their statement read: "The Belfast Trust COVID-19 Vaccination Centre aims to provide a high quality service and much needed COVID-19 Vaccinations to staff and service users treating all with respect, dignity and care.

"In return we expect and require all our staff working in the vaccination centre to be treated with respect. The vast majority of everyone attending the vaccination centre are both respectful and appreciative. However, unfortunately there are occasions when the staff working in the centre are subject to verbal abuse and unacceptable behaviours.

"We will not tolerate abusive language and or unacceptable behaviours towards any member of staff working in the vaccination centre.

"Such behaviour may result in the offender being denied access to the Peer Vaccinators and Vaccination Centre and or further measures as appropriate."
