Belfast City Hall to be lit up pink and blue for Babyloss Awareness Week

Belfast's City Hall is set to be lit up pink and blue for Babyloss Awareness Week, which takes place in October.

Alliance Party Councillor Michelle Kelly announced the news on Twitter, saying: "Delighted to confirm that Belfast City Hall will be lit up in pink and blue in October as part of Babyloss Awareness Week 2020.

"This is an important opportunity for those bereaved to come together; and to raise awareness about pregnancy and baby loss."

Babyloss Awareness Week takes place from October 9-15 each year.

It aims to raise awareness about pregnancy and baby death in the UK.

Throughout the week, bereaved parents, their families and friends, unite with each other and others across the world to commemorate the lives of babies who died during pregnancy, at, or soon after birth and in infancy.

Baby Loss Awareness Week is also a collaboration between charities and organisations working together for change and tangible improvements in policy, research, bereavement care and support available for anyone affected by the death of a baby at any stage.

The news comes just weeks after City Hall was lit up in rainbow colours to show solidarity with key workers at the frontline of the coronavirus pandemic in Northern Ireland and the rest of the world.
