Belfast City Council want musicians to take part in survey as they develop 'Covid Recovery Plan'

Belfast City Council have teamed up with local group Sound Diplomacy to develop a 'Music Strategy and Recovery Plan' to help the Northern Irish music industry.

The project will start by asking those who are working within the music industry, or who are part of it in some way, to complete a comprehensive survey about the sector.

This has been developed by music group Sound Diplomacy, with support from the Belfast City Council.

A press release launching the survey reads: "Belfast is a city with a rich and diverse musical history, and it has recently made a commitment to music, through the designation of the City of Music Steering Group, and a new cultural strategy demonstrating and recognising the value of culture and music to this city.

"This work with Sound Diplomacy will directly feed into the recovery of the music sector post COVID-19.

"Belfast knows that music builds communities up, connects them, fosters equity and promotes fairness.

"But to ensure that music delivers for all members of the community, a robust set of evidence and data, and a bespoke and actionable strategy with an associated recovery plan are required to guide policy making, outreach and planning into the future.

"Sound Diplomacy have committed to delivering this through a wide-ranging, important scope of work for Belfast, including cultural infrastructure mapping and economic impact assessment."

The survey has been launched and is open to all musicians based in Northern Ireland, as well as all music businesses, all relevant stakeholders to the music ecosystem and the general public.
