Belfast City Council details bin collection dates for Christmas

There will be changes to some bin collections in Belfast this Christmas, Belfast City Council has confirmed.

If your scheduled collection day is Monday, December 26, the council will be completing these collections on either Saturday December 24 or Tuesday December 27 - the council says changes are due "to a shortage of drivers".

For those who should be having their bins collected on Tuesday, December 27, it will not be collected. You should present your bin for collection on your next scheduled collection date, which is Tuesday January 10. This applies to general waste (black), recycling (blue), brown (compost) bins, wheelie box (Castle DEA) and glass box collections.

And over the New Year period, a council spokesperson said for those with a scheduled collection for December 30, they "will complete these collections on either Friday 30 December or Saturday 31 December".

Bryson Recycling collections are taking place as normal over Christmas and New Year, except for Monday December 26. These boxes will be collected on Saturday December 24 instead.

Recycling centres and civic amenity sites will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day. There will be no bulky waste collections on Boxing Day, December 27 and 30 and on January 2.

The grounds of Roselawn Cemetery, Dundonald Cemetery, Knockbreda Cemetery and Belfast City Cemetery are open from 8am to 4pm on Christmas Day and 9am to 4pm on New Year's Day.

Belfast City Council says their dog warden service is also closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

You can find your bin collection date online through this portal.
