Belfast city centre robbery investigated by police

A man pinned a female worker against the wall before making off with cash in a robbery in Belfast city centre.

It happened at a business on Queen Street on Thursday evening at around 6.15pm.

The suspect reportedly asked for change before pushing the staff member against a wall and then running off with money.

PSNI Detective Sergeant O’Flaherty said: "This was an extremely distressing ordeal for this female member of staff who has been left shaken by this despicable act, which occurred in her place of work where she was simply doing her job and somewhere she should rightly feel safe.

"The suspect is described as being in his late twenties, of a thin/skinny build and wore a black cap, a black jacket and black tracksuit bottoms.

"We believe the suspect may have been in the company of a second male, who is described as being approximately 30-years-old and roughly 5' 4'' inches tall. This male is believed to have been wearing a red jacket and jeans and had short light brown/fair hair.

“If you think you saw the suspect, or someone who matches the description of the suspect, please call us.

“I would also appeal to anyone who was in the Queen Street area just prior to when the incident was reported, or shortly afterwards and saw what happened, or anyone who has information which may assist our investigation to get in touch with detectives in Musgrave on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 1582 of 24/10/19."
