Belfast bin collection dates over Christmas week

We all have more rubbish over Christmas week between the excess food waste, packaging from Santa and everything in between.

And most of our bins have been filling up quicker as we've spent more time at home, with the new work from home lifestyle.

One thing that can add for awkward silences in the household is if someone forgets to put the bins out.

With Christmas Day falling on a Saturday this year, bin dates remains the same.

All bin and box collections will take place as usual over the Christmas holidays, Belfast City Council has confirmed.

Bin and box collections:

Usual collection date All bins All boxes
Christmas Eve (Friday December 24) As normal As normal
Monday 27 December As normal As normal
Tuesday 28 December As normal As normal
New Year's Eve (Friday December 31) As normal As normal

Commercial waste collections:

There will be no commercial waste collections on Christmas Day (Saturday 25 December). These collections will take place on Monday December 27.

Bulky waste collections:

There will be no bulky waste collections from Saturday December 25 (Christmas Day) to Tuesday December 28, or from Friday December 31 (New Year's Eve) to Monday January 3.

Recycling centres:

All recycling centres will be closed on:

  • Christmas Day (Saturday 25 December)
  • Boxing Day (Sunday 26 December)
  • New Year's Day (Saturday 1 January)
