A Belfast city centre bar and events space is offering a social setting for adults with learning disabilities.
Black Box , which is located in the Cathedral Quarter area of the city, have been running their 'Black Moon' events for 10 years now, and have today shared their schedule of events for 2020, which includes 12 nights across the year for those with learning disabilities.
A description on Black Box's website reads: "Black Moon is a night for and by adults with learning disabilities – giving people a chance to socialise in a cool, modern environment, meet new people and learn new skills."
Black Moon was originally set up by the Black Box in 2010, with support from the Now Project .
In the last ten years, the events space has welcomed groups from Omagh, Bangor, Carrickfergus and beyond each month. In the past, they have been joined by Mencap’s Livenet project, which is designed to help people with a learning disability to develop the skills & knowledge to use ICT in everyday life.
Each event usually takes place between 7pm and 10pm, and costs £3 entry, with £1 entry for parents and carers. Black Moon is for 18s and over, and is an inclusive event.
Black Moon discos have also been organised in Omagh, Armagh, Newcastle and Clandeboye Estate. For further information about this event, contact projects@blackboxbelfast.com
