Belfast airport warns passengers of A26 Twelfth road closure

Belfast International Airport has urged passengers travelling on July 12 to leave extra time for their journey.

The A26 road just off the M1 towards the airport will be closed for several hours to facilitate a parade.

Glenavy is playing host to the annual Twelfth celebrations this year and the field where bands will assemble will require access to the A26 road.

Signs on the M1 motorway this week have indicated the road will be closed for a number of hours in the morning and afternoon.

In a statement Belfast International Airport said: "O n 12th July Glenavy is hosting a parade. The parade will assemble in a field on the A26 at the edge of the village, starting at 11.30am and parading along the A26, Main Street, Belfast Road to the demonstration field on the Ballyminymore Road.

"The return parade will leave the field at 4pm and do the reverse route. At a given time the parade should take less than an hour to pass a given point.

"If you are driving to the airport please leave extra time or have an alternative route planned."
