Belfast Airport Road reopens after security alert

Police have reopened the Airport Road this afternoon following an earlier security alert.

The road near to Belfast International Airport was closed for several hours following the discovery of a suspicious object.

ATO officers were tasked to scene to examine the object which was found outside a shop in the area.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police received a report of a suspicious package at the Airport Road near Aldergrove this morning (Sunday 19 July).

"ATO attended the scene and declared the object nothing untoward.

"The road has now reopened following the incident."
