Belfast airport 'mayhem' as fight breaks out between groups of passengers

A brawl at a Belfast airport in which two groups of passengers attack each other with metal poles and shopping baskets has been caught on camera.

A video posted online shows people rushing away as the fight on Saturday evening escalates, with makeshift weapons being hurled through the air.

Kirk Rutherford, who posted the clip on Twitter, described the scene as "absolute mayhem".

Witnesses said that the fight began in a bar before moving into a seating area, according to The Irish News.

The two groups fought for around seven minutes.

A spokesperson for Belfast International Airport said an investigation into the violence is ongoing.

Police officers are also exploring a link between the brawl and another fight earlier on Saturday in a graveyard in Derry.

Two rival families clashed in the area and officers used batons to prevent the fight from descending into a mass brawl involving more than 200 people.

Officers seized two loaded guns, ammunition, several knives and what is believed to be acid from the two groups.

There were no reports of any injuries or arrests in either incident.
