Belfast airport Christmas reunions kicked off a heartwarming waggy dog tale

Airport reunions are touching at the best of times but no one quite does a welcome home like man's best friend.

And this pooch didn't let the reputation of canines the world over, as he rolled out the welcome mat at George Best Belfast City Airport this morning

The shaggy dog couldn't have wagged his tail any harder as his owner dropped his bag and onto his knees for a furry hug.

Belfast City Airport staff were on hand to catch the whole heartwarming tale on video as they geared up for their busiest day of the year.

They posted:

Thousands are expected to fly home today to be reunited with family for Christmas.

The airport's very own chief executive, Brian Ambrose, is even playing his part in the celebrations with a piano number. Singers, Santa and more musicians entertained travellers as they arrived home for Christmas.
