Beirut bombing: Video shows chaotic aftermath of Isis suicide blasts

As Lebanon holds a day of mourning, video has emerged of the chaotic scenes that followed yesterday's twin suicide bombings in Beirut.

In the footage an explosion can be heard as people are seen running away from one end of a busy street.

People injured by the blasts are seen arriving at a hospital, one person being lifted onto a stretcher as another arrives on the back of a motorcycle.

According to local media, the blasts went off near the busy Mansour shopping centre during rush hour, as the bombers walked down the street roughly 30 to 40 metres apart.

Isis has claimed responsibility for the attacks in Burj al-Barajneh, a predominantly Shia suburb in the south of the city.

The blasts are believed to be retribution for Hezbollah's opposition to Isis in Syria.

There have been no major attacks in the area since June 2014, with this being the deadliest Lebanon has seen since its civil war ended in 1990.

Both Iran and the US have condemned the attacks, with the White House saying the blasts "would only serve to reinforce our commitment to support the institutions of the Lebanese state, including the security services, to ensure a stable, sovereign and secure Lebanon."
