Behold, The Triumph Trident 800 Is Ready To Make Your Acquaintance

Before we start, in the interest of full disclosure, I've already made it perfectly clear in these RideApart pages how I feel about my own Street Triple. I love that thing down to the ground, even though it's a bit beat up. It's just such a fantastic bike, and I still don't think I've truly ever gelled with another motorcycle as quickly as I did that one.

And now, Triumph has gone and done what it seems like a lot of people were hoping for, and it's introduced a more powerful new member of the Trident family.

This is the all-new 2026 Triumph Trident 800, which also boasts a completely new 798cc triple engine with bore and stroke of 78.0mm x 55.7mm and a compression ratio of 13.2 to one. Claimed peak horsepower is 113 at 10,750 rpm, alongside top torque of 61.9 lb-ft at 8,500 rpm. Naturally, it has a six-speed gearbox outfitted with Triumph Shift Assist.

It's aiming to provide a signature Triumph triple roadster experience that builds upon the Trident 660's strengths, while drawing in some of the snappier engine characteristics of the more powerful Triumph Street Triple 765 lineup.

It's probably no great surprise, then, that Triumph also notes that the Street Triple 765 R will be axed from the lineup for 2026. For the record, the company hasn't indicated anything similar about the RS, before you panic; just the R.

What else does the 2026 Triumph Trident 800 bring to the table, then? All the modern conveniences that you'd probably expect, to be honest. This includes three ride modes (Road, Sport, and Rain), lean-sensitive cornering ABS, traction control, Bluetooth connectivity, a 3.5-inch round TFT dash, LED lighting all around, and even self-cancelling turn signals.

The fuel tank holds 3.7 gallons of fuel, and the little belly pan and flyscreen give it that finished, polished look, like when you put your favorite hat on your head and smile at yourself in the mirror before you leave the house.

That's Great, But What's It Cost?

You're counting pennies, I'm counting pennies, we're all counting pennies these days. And while I did tell you that the Street Triple 765 R isn't coming back for 2026, you may momentarily have wondered where the Trident 800 would be priced, if the bike that carried an MSRP of $10,595 in the US in 2025 is no longer an option?

I've got good news there, as the 2026 Triumph Trident 800 is coming to the US and Canada at a price that's actually lower than the outgoing Street Triple 765 R. How much lower, exactly? US MSRP is $9,995, and Canadian MSRP is $11,695.

As for availability, if you're reading this, Triumph North America says you should be able to place your orders now with your local authorized Triumph dealership. Be aware, though, that the bikes will start rolling out to customers in April 2026, so you'll still have to wait a few months if you do place your order right away.

Colorways for the 2026 Triumph Trident 800 include: Ash Grey/Diablo Red, Carnival Red/Graphite, and Jet Black.

Are you excited about the addition of the Trident 800 to the Triumph lineup? I know one new bike I can't wait to ride, is what I'll say. But let me know how you feel about it in the comments below.
