#Behindthegloss: Finding your silver lining

Last two years were extremely tormenting for all of us. The pandemic created a havoc that won't ever be forgotten. For those who started off their career back then, it was the most challenging time for them, as the future seemed bleak. In this special series called Behind The Gloss, we share unique and inspiring stories of people from fashion fraternity, who are survived all odds and inspired others.

Here's a story of a young boy named Prasanjeet Singh, who hails from a small town called Chabbewal in the district of Hoshiarpur, Punjab. What makes this 22-year-old's story unique is that despite being an orphan, he dared to dream and came to Delhi to pursue his dreams of becoming a model. Little did he know that the road ahead was going to be bumpy. But what stood by him was his grit.

"I was scouted by a Delhi-based modelling agency. My perception of a model used to be that they are like Greek Gods, with chiselled features and drop dead gorgeous looks and never did I think that I could become one. I wasn't that tall and my features were a little unconventional from how a model looks like. So, my first battle here was about acceptance. Not many brands would take me, since I couldn't fit into their so called 'handsome' category. But I was told that now the industry has become more inclusive and people here are more open to cast interesting faces," says the 22-year-old.

Prasanjeet got some hope. But just when he started off his modelling career and did a few test shoots with some established photographers, the worst ever pandemic in the history of mankind hit the country. With no earnings, Singh was stuck in Delhi and it was very difficult for him to make his ends meet. He some how sailed through the lockdown.

Singh is hopeful that in the coming days, he will be getting more work from various brands and wants to walk for brands like Dolce & Gabbana and Gucci at Paris, Milan and New York Fashion Week.
