From the silty shores of Putney to the lesser-spotted seals of Greenwich, the Thames is the original landmark of our capital.
For the river issue, photographer Martin Parr visited the banks of the Thames to meet the individuals who have dedicated their livelihoods to the body of water. Meet the puppeteers, litter-pickers, swimmers and swan markers who all live, work and breathe our river.
We went behind the scenes with Martin Parr, in a video created by Unfolding Films, to catch a glimpse into the process behind his series of portraits, and to get to know the man behind the lens.
