Behind the scenes look at Everton's stunning Swiss training camp

Everton manager Marco Silva has been putting his players through their paces at the club's Swiss training base ahead of Sunday's friendly match against Sion.

The Blues will play two fixtures during their time at their Alpine retreat with a second game with Ligue 1 outfit Monaco to follow on Friday.

Having returned from last week's trip to Africa where a largely second string Everton side were beaten on penalties by Kenyan outfit Kariobangi Sharks in Nairobi, the squad has subsequently been bolstered by the return of several of the club's players who have been on international duty.

These include England pair Jordan Pickford and Michael Keane; Ireland's Seamus Coleman; Iceland's Gylfi Sigurdsson; France's Lucas Digne; Turkey's Cenk Tosun plus Brazilian Bernard who was not involved in the previous game.

Former Hull City and Watford boss Silva began his current job last year with a trip to an altitude training camp at Bad Mitterndorf, a popular winter sports resort in Austria.

He clearly likes the format given that he has taken his side back to a similar location but while Everton were towards the eastern edge of the Alpine range last summer, this time around they are some 500 miles further west in a location close to Mont Blanc, Lake Geneva and both the French and Italian borders with Switzerland.

Everton are based in the village of Verbier and it's situated in a region that director of football Marcel Brands knows well.

His former club PSV Eindhoven went there for both training and friendlies in 2017 and 2018.

In 2017, like Everton will do, they faced Sion and Monaco while last year they played Swiss side Neuchatel Xamax and Turkish team Galatasaray.
