The Seattle Seahawks head down to the desert Week 4 to square off against the Arizona Cardinals. Ahead of the matchup, we asked three questions of Cards Wire managing editor Jess Root.
1. What can Seattle expect from new head coach Kliff Kingsbury and his ‘Air Raid’ offense?
For one, the Seahawks can expect a lot of passing and a lot of receivers. They move quickly, they run a lot of 10 personnel and they move people around. They will even use two tight ends but spread them out wide. The running game will happen out of spread formations and try to get David Johnson in space. Larry Fitzgerald and Christian Kirk play inside, while Damiere Byrd and KeeSean Johnson line up outside.
2. How is the No. 1 overall draft pick, quarterback Kyler Murray, progressing in his development his rookie season?
His first two games were fantastic. He rallied the team back after slow starts. Then he started quickly against the Panthers and started to unlock his running. However, he looked more like a rookie in the second half of the game against the Panthers, held on to the ball too long and forced a throw, leading to an interception. He was sacked eight times, five in the fourth quarter. However, overall he looks very promising.
3. Pass protection has been an issue for Seattle. How will the Cardinals defense look to exploit Russell Wilson and the Seahawks’ struggling offensive line?
Getting pressure has been an issue the last two weeks. Chandler Jones has three sacks and three forced fumbles in three games but has not gotten consistent pressure. Terrell Suggs was great in Week 1 and quiet after that. However, Jones has more sacks against Wilson than against any other team, and if Duane Brown can’t play, (Jones) might cause problems. They haven’t gotten much pressure inside and haven’t done much blitzing with the inside linebackers, but maybe they show a little more this week.
