An Edinburgh man has used his daily exercise to transform a section of Wester Hailes green space.
Luke Samuels picked up a whopping eight black bags full of rubbish from the local area and now he is encouraging others to do something similar.
Before and after pictures taken by Luke show how much the area has changed thanks to his hard work.
In a post, Luke wrote: "I filled 8 black bags full of rubbish in Wester Hailes from bridge 6-7.
"This was my fourth day of litter picking so in total it was 18 black bags full.
"I have got a lot of satisfaction from this as it makes it better for the wildlife and people enjoying the area.
"I hope I have encouraged you to do a little tidy up of your area because a small change can make a big difference."
Talking to Edinburgh Live, Luke said: "All measures were taken to ensure my safety with protective wear.
"My apartment is a 3-minute walk from the canal.
"Also that it was my daily exercise and I was not near anyone while doing this and kept safe distances (even from the swans and ducks)."
Luke continued: "I have also been out on my kayak taking rubbish from the areas I could not reach from land.
"I would just like to say to people that if they can do a clean while they are out walking it they can as a small change can make a big difference if everyone works together.
"I hope the council and Scottish canals can do more to keep the area clean too
"‘Keep safe, and keep Edinburgh tidy."
