Beetles on a roll, take on shaky Kirins

Chiang Rai's Bill Rosimar, front, celebrates scoring a goal.

Chiang Rai United will be looking for their fourth successive win when they host SCG Muang Thong United in a meeting of former Thai League 1 champions on Sunday.

While Chiang Rai are the form team, Muang Thong have been inconsistent.

The Beetles are second on 14 points, two behind leaders Buriram United who are at home to Nakhon Ratchasima on Sunday.

The Kirins are in seventh place on nine points after losing to holders BG Pathum United in midweek.

Chiang Rai's attack will be led by Bill Rosimar, who is second in the scoring charts with six goals, one behind Chonburi's Dennis Murillo.

Chiang Rai beat Muang Thong twice last season and Kirins coach Mario Gjurovski has vowed to avenge the losses. "We will try to do our best to get a result," he said.

However, Gjurovski complained that his men lack sharpness up front.

"We will have to find a solution," said former Kirins forward Gjurovski. "If I was a player, I would love to score goals by myself."

Buriram will be out for revenge against Nakhon Ratchasima, who beat the Thunder Castle at their Chang Arena last season.

It will also be a clash between Buriram chairman Newin Chidchob and Nakhon Ratchasima executive chairman Worawi Makudi, a former president of the Football Association of Thailand (FAT).

Newin is believed to be a backer of current FAT president Somyot Poompunmuang, who succeeded Worawi.
