Beeswing parents come up with bike train to keep kids safe when heading to school

Parents in Beeswing have come up with an innovative way to ensure their kids are safe while travelling to Kirkgunzeon Primary.

A special “bike train” has been set up to provide supervised cycle transport, with a rota of parents involved.

Before the summer holidays, it was running two days a week using the much quieter back roads – a distance of 5km each way.

The children have all been really enthusiastic and it is planned to start up again when schools return in mid August, hopefully with a few new faces.

As well as encouraging a more environmentally friendly method of travelling to school it is also good for fitness and wellbeing.

The children taking part have made noticeable gains in this respect already.
