An all-day cafe bar has reassured customers after receiving a one star hygiene rating following a council inspection.
Bosses of Bendigo Lounge in Beeston said processes had been reviewed and staff had been retrained after the failing.
An environmental health inspector, from Broxtowe Borough Council, found major improvement was necessary to ensure food safety.
No further details about the specific concerns found at the popular venue in July, in High Road, have been revealed.
But according to the Food Standards Agency the management of food safety covers "system or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, evidence that staff know about food safety, and the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future."
The family-friendly spot serves everything from breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Phil Kinsella, operations manager, said: "We are very disappointed by the rating but understand it as on this occasion standards were not up to the level which our customers have a right to expect.
"We have reviewed our processes, re-trained the team and would like to reassure our customers that we are confident this will not happen again."
A council spokesman said: "The Bendigo Lounge received a 1 star food hygiene rating following an inspection which raised major concerns relating to the management of food safety. The council is currently working with the company to help it to improve its food safety measures. Officers will revisit as necessary until adequate improvements have been put in place."
