Beer shop in Bristol closes less than a year after opening

It's no secret that times are hard for the high street, with both independent businesses and chains battling against the rise of internet shopping.

Not only this but people are reining in their spending in an uncertain climate, in favour of splashing their cash on leisure and holidays instead.

Sadly the pinch has most definitely been felt in Bristol and we've seen a number of high-profile closures this year, including Burton, Miss Selfridge and Dorothy Perkins in Cabot Circus earlier this year.

The latest closure will come as sad news for Bristol's beer fanatics, as a shop specialising in the drink has closed, less than a year after opening.

Brendan’s Brewtique opened its doors on Queen's Road in September 2018, headed up by beer connoisseur Brendan Woodhouse, who fulfilled his lifelong dream of running his own shop after leaving his career in I.T.

The shop stocked a vast range of local and international beers and ciders, making it a hit with customers who praised both the selection and Brendan's knowledge.

On both Facebook and Google it had a five-star rating, with one reviewer writing: "A wonderful selection of beers which is always being updated.

"Brendan offers friendly advice on all the beers in stock and has some amazing beers on tap that make this place perfect. Highly recommended!"

But sadly Brendan's Brewtique closed for good yesterday, with a brief statement shared on its Facebook page which reads: "It is with great regret that Brendans Brewtique will cease trading today.

"If you want a bargain then get to the shop in the next hour!!"

Speaking to Bristol Live, Brendan said he wanted to 'thank all our customers that made the last year so enjoyable' and that he currently has no plans to open another shop.
