Beer garden brawl involving weapons sees at least three hospitalised

A brawl in a Bedminster pub beer garden has left at least three people in hospital with severe injuries.

Police officers were called to reports of a fight in the garden of the Three Lions pub at around 9.50pm last night (September 21).

Numerous people were treated by ambulance crews, with two men being taken to hospital with serious injuries.

They remain in hospital for treatment to lacerations not believed to be life-threatening.

A third man went to hospital needing stitches for a 2.5in cut.

Severe injuries were inflicted on the men Avon and Somerset Constabulary could not confirm the nature of the weapons used during the brawl to cause the injuries.

A man initially arrested in connection with the incident has been released for hospital treatment. They could not confirm if this was one of the three men previously mentioned.

West Street was cordoned off to allow for a forensic investigation of the scene and has now reopened after being shut this morning (September 22).

In addition, a silver Smart car was seen flipped on its side in a side road off the main street at around the same time.

The car was on its drivers side in Chapel Barton, a narrow no-through-lane, with eyewitnesses reporting they saw several people on the scene.

By this morning the police cordon had moved slightly south to encapsulate the Three Lions Pub.

A police spokeswoman said: "Police were called to reports of a fight in the garden of the Three Lions pub in West Street, Bedminster at 9.50pm on Saturday (September 21).

"A number of people were treated by ambulance crews for injuries.

"Two men went to hospital with serious injuries. They remain in hospital for treatment to lacerations not believed to be life-threatening.

"Another man went to hospital needing stitches for a 2.5in cut.

"The area was cordoned off to allow for a forensic investigation of the scene.

"A man initially arrested in connection with the incident was released for hospital treatment. Enquiries continue.
