Bedminster man had cannabis stored in his home and stuffed down his pants

A Bedminster man found with cannabis at his home was then stopped by police and found with cannabis in his pants.

Anthony Woodman was on bail after police made the initial find, Bristol Crown Court heard.

But just under a year later they stopped him in a car and found he had more of the Class B drug in his car and in his underwear.

Woodman, 27, of Timsbury Road, pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis with intent to supply and acquiring criminal property in January last year.

He also pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis in December last year.

The recorder Mr Harris jailed him for 15 months and destroyed the cannabis.

Kenneth Bell, prosecuting, said police called to Woodman's home on an unrelated matter found he had 321g of cannabis in 30 bags, digital scales and kitchen wrap as well as £930 in cash and a mobile phone containing drug-related requests.

The value of the cannabis was put at £3,760, the court heard.

Just under a year later police stopped Woodman in a car and found 2g of cannabis in the vehicle and 5.4g of cannabis in hus underwear.

Neil Treharne, defending, said his client had an "entrenched" drug habit which was contributed to by his self-medicating for a back condition.

Mr Treharne said: "He accepts he took the wrong path."
