BEd admissions on, to be on merit this year

By- Poviet Kaur

CHANDIGARH: The process of admission to the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) has started in all education colleges in the city. Due to the Covid pandemic, admissions are being conducted on the basis of merit instead of entrance exam this year. Last year also admissions were made on the basis of merit.

There are about 260 B.Ed seats in the city. Like every year, the education department of the university will coordinate admissions this time too. A website for the purpose was launched on Friday. Registrations can be done on the website till September 22. Deposits can be made before 4pm in any branch of State Bank of India till September 27.

Candidates have been given time to update information like photograph and signature till September 30. Also, 60% seats will be reserved for students from the city and 40% seats will be in the open pool or All India Quota. Only those students who have studied regularly for at least two years in any college or institute in the city will be counted in the UT pool.

Out-of-town students will be counted in the general pool. Those studying through distance learning will also fall in this category. Information about the subjects available in every college has also been given on the website.
