Beckhams present a united front in first outing after Brooklyn post

David and Victoria Beckham have put on a united front in their first joint public appearance since son Brooklyn’s explosive Instagram post.

The couple attended Haute Couture Fashion Week in Paris alongside their three youngest children, Romeo, Cruz and Harper.

The family were photographed at the Ministry of Culture, with David and Victoria wearing coordinating black outfits.

Last week, Brooklyn, 26, issued a stunning statement via Instagram in which he accused his parents of trying to ruin his relationship and of attacking him and his wife Nicola in the press.

Brooklyn said: “I do not want to reconcile with my family. I'm not being controlled, I'm standing up for myself for the first time in my life.

"For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family. The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into."

The family’s appearance in Paris comes as Victoria was honoured by becoming a Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters.

The honour, awarded by the French Ministry of Culture, recognises contributions to literature and the arts, and has previously been given to Zoe Saldana, Jude Law, and Denis Villeneuve.

Victoria posted on Instagram, saying: "I'm so honoured to be named a Chevalière de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture.

"I have always deeply admired the French aesthetic and the seriousness with which it treats fashion: as a form of art.

"So to be recognised here and embraced in this way, is a profound privilege - one that reflects decades of commitment and dedication.”

While this is their first appearance together since Brooklyn’s statement, the Beckhams have been pictured individually over the past week, with David appearing in Davos at the World Economic Forum and Victoria stepping out at former bandmate Emma Bunton's 50th birthday.

Neither David nor Victoria have commented specifically on the row, but David has mentioned his children making “mistakes” on social media while speaking in Davos.

He told CNBC’s financial program Squawk Box: “I have always spoken about social media and the power of social media. For the good and for the bad.

And I have tried to do the same, I’ve tried to do the same with my children, to educate them. They make mistakes, but children are allowed to make mistakes. That is how they learn. That is what I try to teach my kids.”
