(Picture: Daniel Lynch)A suspect has been arrested as a 42-year-old man attacked in a south east London street continues to fight for life.
Police were called to Beckenham High Street at 1.22am on Sunday. London Ambulance Service found the victim with a head injury.
He was treated at the scene before being taken to a south London hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
The 26-year-old male detained on Tuesday morning on suspicion of assault is being questioned at a south London police station.
Detective Inspector Tom Revell, of the Met’s South Area Command CID, said: “Initial enquiries suggest that the assault occurred after a confrontation in the street between the victim and another man.”
