Bebe Rexha says she felt like she was 'going to get raped' one night in recording studio

Bebe Rexha has spoken out about feeling like she might be sexually assaulted one evening while working with a male producer.

The “Say my Name” singer told Cosmopolitan that she feared for her life during the encounter, claiming that she was alone in a recording studio with him and a group of five or six other men.

“I had heard things about him from his past and I just couldn’t take it any more,” Rexha said of the anonymous producer.

“I felt like I was going to get raped. I quietly called myself a taxi from the recording booth, which was enclosed, and I got the f*** out of there. It was the worst night ever.”

The 30-year-old musician went on to recall another experience with a “really famous” producer whom she alleged massaged her feet when he entered the studio.

“One time he tried to go above my knees and was getting a little rough, [so] I pulled my feet away,” Rexha told the publication.

“He said, ‘Nah, I’m going to do what I want’. But I was raised to never let someone touch my body if I don’t want them to.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Rexha opened up about being told to lose 20lb (9kg) by her record label when she first signed with them.

“Back then I was so small, I was only 130lb [59kg]," she said, adding that the experience traumatised her. "It f***ed me up," she continued. "I was so cold all the time.”

Rexha explained she would regularly starve herself before filming a music video, adding that one creative director once told her over the dinner table that she wasn’t losing enough weight. “All I was eating was salad,” Rexha said.

In January, Rexha made headlines for publicly calling out fashion designers who refused to dress her for the Grammys because they thought she was "too big" to wear their clothes.

The singer did not name the fashion houses in question, but described their behaviour as "crazy".

Addressing the incident in Cosmopolitan, Rexha explained that it "broke her heart".

"I was so sad, so depressed," she added. "I felt like I was garbage. I thought to myself, ‘This is bulls***."

The October issue of Cosmopolitan is on sale from 5 September
