Beauty firm blow LTD sees Londoners rush to join waiting list

The number of people on a waiting list to get beauty treatments from blow LTD once the Covid-19 lockdown lifts has passed 2000, the London firm said on Thursday.

The firm, which has two branches in the capital and an app that allows customers to book at-home services from 300 freelancers in London, said it has recently launched a waiting list for people to pencil in home appointments as soon as the government allows it.

Over 2000 people have joined the list, the group’s co-founder Fiona McIntosh told the Evening Standard. At-home services include waxes, manicures and blow drys.

McIntosh, a former editor in chief at ELLE who co-founded blow LTD in 2013, said clients are “desperate to get their nails done or their roots seen to”. Like rivals, blow LTD has seen income impacted by the lockdown.

McIntosh said a recent survey with customers showed more people are inclined to have treatments at home than in a busy salon, where there would be more people, when lockdowns ease.

The beauty industry is still awaiting details on what a return-to-work will look like. During the lockdown blow has been working on procuring PPE from beauty industry suppliers for staff and freelancers, and will have strict hygiene and cleaning processes in place.

blow LTD is backed by a number of investors, including Unilever’s venture capital arm.
