Beauty buffs ditch foundation for 'filter in a bottle' serum that creates 'flawless' Summer skin

Beauty buffs claim they have completely ditched their foundation after trying a 'filter in a bottle' primer that smooths skin and gives it the 'perfect Summer glow'. The Tinted Filter Primer has been showered with five-star reviews from those who have tried it, with many impressed by how flawless it makes the skin look after a single application.

The Blurring & moisturizing filter primer normally costs £33 for a bottle. However, it is currently a more purse-friendly £26.40 when you use the code REACH20 - which will take 20% off products sitewide, including Tula's £76 Summer Radiance Kit (£67 with the code) that is packed with £139-worth of skincare heroes, including the primer.

The cult primer promises to smooth and even out the look of skin while giving a glowy, “filter-like” finish. It is available in sheer, buildable tints that blur skin and create a radiant base for makeup.

There is also an untinted priming formula that doubles as a sheer, golden illuminizer. All of the Filter Primers are powered by clean & effective ingredients like licorice to target an uneven complexion, while probiotic extracts to help balance skin.

The Primer's formula is non-comedogenic meaning it won’t clog pores. This also means it is able to be blended thoroughly to release its special "glow particles."

The face primer was clinically tested on 121 participants over a period of four weeks. After one use, 96% agreed that their foundation went on smoother and more evenly, while 93% agreed that their skin looked more even-toned.

The same percentage agreed that their foundation looked better, and that skin looked and felt smoother, while 90% of participants said skin looked brighter and more illuminated.

At the end of the four-week trial, 90% said that their skin felt nourished. 87% claimed their skin felt more supple.

Away from clinical trials, the £26 foundation alternative has been showered with more than 800 five-star reviews. Beauty buffs claim it smooths their skin and makes it glow so much, they've completely ditched their foundation for the hot Summer months.

One five-star reviewer wrote: "I love how light it is! The blur is perfect for a fresh looking face!!" Another said: "My favorite product to use. Makes me look like I’m glowing with such little effort."

A third fan of the primer said: "As someone who hardly ever wears makeup, this product completes the look I’m going for. I’ve seen it used on many influencers websites, who have called it their holy grail blurring primer that can be worn without additional foundation on top. This is exactly what I was looking for and Tula definitely delivered with this!!!"

Opting for the primer instead of foundation during the hot Summer months, somebody else said: "So smooth and beautiful! Love the glow it creates! I feel I could just wear this in the Summer instead of thick foundation."

Another beauty buff who ditched their foundation after trying the £26 primer penned: "Second tube of tinted primer and will continue to purchase. I use rather than foundation and I am happy with the easy application and sheerness of this primer."

A 70-year-old fan of the skin-smoothing filter primer added: "I have been using the blurring and moisturizing primer for several months. It’s great for those days that I don’t want to wear full on makeup but want just a little coverage. When using as a primer my Tula foundation stays put all day. It always feels great on my skin. I have oily skin and over 70 years young!"

Calling it the 'best primer', another shopper wrote: "I love how lightweight and clean feeling this primer is. It leaves my skin feeling clean, refreshed, and not too shiny. Love the slight tint so I could even get away with no make up, most days."

Somebody else hailed the primer as 'magic', writing: "I've tried a few different skin tints/ tinted moisturizers in my lifetime and this one is by far my favorite!! It adds the perfect glow and I will use this in place of my makeup this summer!"

Some shoppers did comment that they found the pump tricky to use. Others said they had struggled to work out the right shade for their skin.

A similar tinted primer can be found at Boots. Its £17.95 No7 Airbrush Away Colour Balancing Primer has an average rating of 4.3 stars out of five, and is currently half price when you use the code NO7PRIMERS50.

Other alternatives include NARS Radience Primer, which is currently £24.75 instead of £33 on Cult Beauty, and Beauty Pie's All-In-Wonder Tinted Illuminating Primer, which is £30 for non-members, and £10 for members. However, Tula's Blurring & moisturizing primer has considerably more five-star reviews than its competitors.

The Blurring & moisturizing primer can be found for £26.40 on the Tula website when you use the code REACH20 for 20% off. This code can be used across the website with no minimum spend.
