'Beautiful' woman shot dead named locally as tributes pour in

Tributes pour in for a "beautiful" woman who was found shot dead as she has been named locally.

At around 1.45am on October 30, police were called to an address in Moreton after they received reports a woman's body had been found. The woman, in her 50s, had been shot in the chest.

A large police cordon was put in place as parts of Meadowbrook Road were sealed off. Officers dressed in forensic clothing could be seen carrying out evidence searches outside a property on the road. At the time, a 79-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of her murder.

Tributes have since come pouring in for the "beautiful woman" who has been named locally as Jackie. ECHO reader Nicola Mfm Maddocks said: "Sleep tight Jackie an old neighbour of mine, such a beautiful woman taken far too soon. Another angel spreading her wings, thoughts and prayers are with her sons, her family and friends as they endure this difficult time.

"Sleep tight beautiful watch over your family and pray they catch who has done this to you." Jennifer Robinson added: "So sad feel for her family, she was beautiful."

Michelle Hulse wrote: "So sad Rip Jackie thinking of Kevin and Peter at this time" as Anthony James McDougall said: "RIP Jac, sad you're gone, fly high angel." James Sorby said: "Another sad incident in Merseyside."

An investigation was launched by police as they appealed for witnesses as a "matter of urgency". Anyone with any information is asked to contact @MerPolCC on Twitter or ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook or call 101 with log 096 of Sunday 30 October.

Chief Inspector Derek Riley, of Merseyside Police, said: "Although a man has been arrested following the tragic death of this woman in Moreton we are still in the very early stages of our investigation and enquiries into the incident are still ongoing in the area. I would ask anyone who was in the area of Meadowbrook Road in the very early hours of this morning who saw or heard anything or thinks they have captured anything significant on their doorbell camera or dashcam to contact us as a matter of urgency.

"I would also encourage anyone who has any other information which they believe could assist with our investigation to get in touch as this could be vital to our enquiries."
