'Beautiful!' - Rio Ferdinand hails Leeds United summer transfer decision

Rio Ferdinand has hailed Leeds United’s deal to bring Jack Harrison back to the club on a permanent deal from Manchester City.

Harrison spent the previous three seasons on loan at Elland Road but finally made his stay in West Yorkshire a permanent one for a fee believed to be in the region of £11 million.

The 24-year-old has improved year on year since first arriving at Leeds and enjoyed his best season to date in the Premier League last term as he netted eight goals and provided eight assists.

Harrison started Saturday’s disappointing opening day defeat at Manchester United and endured a quiet afternoon as he struggled to make any sort of impact on proceedings.

Despite a superb Luke Ayling equaliser shortly after the interval, the Whites were torn apart in a 16-minute salvo that conjured up four quickfire goals from Mason Greenwood, Bruno Fernandes (2) and Fred, to take the game away from Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

Former Leeds and Man United defender Ferdinand was speaking on BT Sport prior to the clash at Old Trafford, where he was full of praise for the signing of Harrison.

He said: “[It’s a] beautiful piece of business. [He] delivers, scores goals, assists – even more than that, his energy, the way he governs that left-hand side.

“I think his all-around game, he picks the ball in these types of areas, he’s very direct.”
