Beautiful new sculpture on Malahide Castle grounds mindlessly vandalised leaving locals outraged

A beautifully crafted new sculpture on the grounds of Malahide Castle was mindlessly vandalised on Sunday night leaving locals outraged.

The gorgeous wooden sculpture stands in the grounds of the castle, featuring an intricate wooden castle structure and a signpost reading "An Chaislean" pointing back to the main event itself.

But the sign was recklessly snapped in two, leaving half of it splintered and hanging on by a thread.

Local Facebook group Enjoy Malahide posted a picture of the senseless vandalism, saying: "Really disappointed to see that the beautiful new sculpture in Malahide Castle and Gardens was damaged over night."

And the residents in the replies were not happy.

One commented: "Mindless vandalism by spoilt little brats! Easy parenting, out of sight out of mind!"

Another sadly remarked: "It's a sad reflection that as soon as it was put it I knew this photo was coming."

While a third added: "Was admiring it the other day - that’s so awful."
