'Beautiful' new mum who died on Boxing Day was 'loved by thousands'

Tributes have been paid to a "beautiful" young mum who died months after the birth of her baby boy.

Natalie Forshaw, 30, died in the early hours of Boxing Day after testing positive for coronavirus.

The 30-year-old first fell ill while pregnant with her baby boy Caleb, who was delivered via an emergency C-section at St Mary's Hospital.

Following the birth, Natalie was transferred straight to the Intensive Care Unit of Manchester Royal Infirmary and by mid-December her condition had shown some signs of improving.

But the new mum suffered a major setback when her heart failed later that month and she died on December 26, the Manchester Evening News reports.

Tributes have poured in on social media for Natalie following her death, as people paid their condolences to her friends and family.

Annette Mcclymont said: "So so sad RIP gorgeous girl, love to your family and baby Caleb Xxx."

Theresa Shah said: "So young may she rest in peace."

Jocelyn Morgan said: "Beautiful lady RIP, Bless you Caleb x."

Christel Jones said: "Heartbreaking. So very sorry for your loss. Rest in peace xxx."

Pam Raley said: "Deepest condolences to you and all the family, such a tragedy, god bless."

Glynis Parker "So very sad and heartbreaking. My sincere condolences to her partner, mother family and friends. Big hugs to her baby, may she RIP."

Paying tribute, Natalie's mum, Bernie Wilton, described her daughter as a "beautiful" woman who was loved by thousands of people.

She said: "She was absolutely beautiful and would brighten up everyone's day. There are thousands of people who loved her. "

"The nursing staff and doctors at both hospitals were amazing and the family would like to thank them for all their care.

"They were wonderful and went above and beyond for Natalie.

"Caleb weighed 6lb 12 ounces and is perfect."

Natalie had chosen not to have any vaccinations for covid during her pregnancy.

Recent figures from Public Health England show the numbers of expectant mums getting fully vaccinated are still low.

The Guardian reports that The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) says just 15% of pregnant women have had two doses of the vaccine so far.

Women have cited many reasons for their reluctance to get jabbed, including a lack of long-term information about the dangers of the vaccine to their child, healthcare providers giving unclear messaging around safety and misinformation being spread on social media.

However, England’s top midwife has urged expectant mums to get the vaccine after data shows the overwhelming majority of pregnant women hospitalised with the virus have not had a jab.

A Give Now appeal set up to help Natalie's family, Caleb, and Jay, has raised £6,500.

In a message on social media on December 27, Bernie said: "Today, my heart broke into many pieces.

"I don't think it will ever mend.

"I am going to miss your daft ways, the fact that you text me 8,400,000 times a day even if it was just to say love you mammy.

"We had an amazing bond, not only mother and daughter but best of friends."
