Beautiful new angel wings you can see in Liverpool this month

A new angel wings installation will light up Liverpool for families over the festive period.

The moving light projection artwork comes to Liverpool Cathedral for visitors to enjoy this December.

Located in the Cathedral's Derby Transept, the installation was created by Luxmuralis, in an award-winning collaboration between sculptor Peter Walker and composer David Harper.

Angel Wings is at shoulder height and the feathers on the wings pulsate and change colour to a curated soundtrack.

Luxmuralis is known for producing large-scale light and sound shows, creating an art form called Light Tags, which is a type of light graffiti, projecting small light artworks on walls and buildings.

Specially designed for Liverpool Cathedral, Angel Wings is the first version of a Light Tag which Luxmuralis have created as an installation.

You can head to Liverpool Cathedral to take photos of yourself and your loved ones with Angel Wings in the run-up to Christmas for free during the Cathedral's opening hours but you must book your visit through Eventbrite first.

The Angel Wing installation will be at Liverpool Cathedral until January 3, 2021 (Andrew Teebay/Liverpool Echo)

While you're there why not pick a present up in the cathedral gift shop and on Tuesdays and Thursdays in December, treat yourself to coffee and cake as you listen to carols from young Cathedral Choral Scholars. Book here.

Angel Wings is open at Liverpool Cathedral on St James Mount throughout December and runs until January 3, 2021. You can visit Monday to Friday from 10am to 5pm, Saturday, 10am to 4pm and Sunday 12pm to 1.45pm, but you must book first.
