'Beautiful inside and out' - Family say final farewell as Gateshead mum Sorrelle Bamford is laid to rest

Hundreds of people gathered to bid a final farewell to loving mum Sorrelle Bamford at her funeral.

The mum-of-four, from Crawcrook, Gateshead, died in April and since then scores of tributes have been paid to her.

On Thursday, her family and friends arrived at West Road Crematorium in Newcastle to say goodbye and they all wore "a splash of blue" or floral patterns in her honour.

Some wore blue shirts, dresses or tops, while others sported scarves or ties of Sorrelle's favourite shade.

The chapel was packed to the rafters and many had to remain outside, where the service was relayed on loudspeaker.

Sorrelle was described as being "beautiful inside and out", a mother who cherished her family, including all her cousins, aunties and uncles, and "did not have a bad bone in her body".

There were tears as well as smiles as people heard about her life and how she enjoyed family bike rides and holidays in Benidorm and Majorca as a youngster.

She was a good cook who always made home-cooked meals, it was said, and "mothered" not just her own children but everyone else she loved too.

During the service, her sons Philip and Aaron read moving poems and received applause for their words.

A private burial was then held, and afterwards family and friends came together to share their memories of Sorrelle at Slatyford Tenants Club.

Sorrelle, 38, was reported missing from her Crawcrook home on April 23.

But after two days of searches, her body was sadly found near the River Tyne in Wylam.

Her family plan to set up a charity in her memory in a bid to help others.
