Beaujolais Day in Swansea for 2021: Venues, prices and everything else you need to know

By Caitlin Arlow

If there's one thing Swansea does better than anywhere else - it's Beaujolais Day.

Every year the city goes into overdrive for Beaujolais Day with thousands dressing up to the nines and descending on pubs and restaurants to raise a toast to the wine made from the first harvest of grapes in the Beaujolais region of France.

Because of Covid it's been two years since the city has been able to celebrate the big day without any restrictions, as last year Wales was emerging from the firebreak lockdown where only up to four people could meet in pubs and restaurants.

The biggest annual event that starts at lunchtime and continues well into the night is ready to take place in 2021 on Thursday, November 18.

At one minute past midnight on the third Thursday of each November, more than a million cases of Beaujolais begin their journey across France with a race to get the first bottles to different markets across the globe.

A spokesperson from Morgan's Hotel said: "Morgan's Hotel has celebrated Beaujolais Day for many years and is a popular venue in the city. Between our main hotel and marquees, we will serve up to 1000 meals and welcome many more guests through the doors to enjoy drinks and entertainment.

"After what has been a life changing 18 months, we would like to offer a sense of normality to the people of Swansea and surrounds, with some people coming from all over the world for the event. Morgan’s has been open for the duration of the pandemic serving key workers, and this event allows us to get back to hosting everyone else in the city.

"Our team are excited making plans for the biggest event of the year. The bookings are coming in and our guests are telling us that they are really looking forward to being able to attend this special event, and we cannot wait to host them. "
