Beau Willimon, the creator of the acclaimed series 'House of Cards,' is set to co-write the script for the upcoming Lucasfilm project 'Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi.' Joining him in this endeavor is James Mangold, who will also take on the directorial duties for the film. This highly-anticipated project will delve into the origins of the Force, set a staggering 25,000 years before any other 'Star Wars' installment seen to date.

According to Mangold, the film aims to narrate the complete story of the birth of the Force, a pivotal element in the 'Star Wars' universe. He envisions the project as a grand epic akin to 'Ben-Hur' or 'The Ten Commandments,' shedding light on the mystical force that has become a cornerstone of the franchise. The narrative will explore fundamental questions such as the discovery of the Force, its earliest practitioners, and the inception of the Jedi Order.

Mangold, known for his work on 'Logan' and 'Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,' expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity to delve into this uncharted territory within the 'Star Wars' lore.

Meanwhile, Disney has announced the release date for 'The Mandalorian & Grogu,' a cinematic spinoff derived from the popular Disney+ series 'The Mandalorian,' scheduled to premiere on May 22, 2026.

For Willimon, this collaboration marks a return to the 'Star Wars' universe, having previously contributed to the first season of the well-received 'Andor' series featuring Diego Luna. His past works include the 2018 film 'Mary Queen of Scots' and the screenplay for 'The Ides of March,' which he co-wrote with Grant Heslov and George Clooney.

Represented by WME and Schreck Rose, Willimon's involvement in 'Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi' adds another exciting chapter to his accomplished career in the entertainment industry.
