Beau Lamarre-Condon’s Calls ‘Monitored’ After Trying To Sell Interviews From Jail

Alleged double murderer Beau Lamarre-Condon’s calls are being closely monitored amid reports he’s been offering interviews and details about the case from behind bars, for a price.

The former NSW Police officer has been in custody for over 16 months. He is charged with the murder of Channel 10 presenter Jesse Baird, 26, and Qantas flight attendant Luke Davies, 29, with his police-issued gun and dumping their bodies in surfboard bags.

The Daily Telegraph reported last week that Lamarre-Condon has been attempting to negotiate deals with media outlets about the upcoming court case, including selling an exclusive interview with his mother.

“He is offering an interview with his mother, which can only occur on weekends, as that is when he (Lamarre-Condon) can join them via a audio visual link from jail,” a police source told the publication.

A source said Lamarre-Condon’s been unhappy with the way he’s been portrayed while behind bars, including the use of a cartoonist’s recent sketch of him from a court appearance.

“He has been particularly upset by the media repeatedly using the court image of him,” a police source said. “He just craves attention.”

Additionally, The Daily Telegraph reported an intermediary of Lamarre-Condon had approached the publication with an offer of an interview or information but the offer was rejected.

In a statement to the publication, a Corrective Services NSW spokesperson said they “cannot comment on the circumstances of individual inmates due to privacy legislation”, but largely do not facilitate interviews “between inmates and the media to prevent victims and their loved ones from being further traumatised”.

Per The Australian on Monday, police sources say all of Lamarre-Condon’s phone calls are being closely monitored to prevent him cashing in on his murder case while he’s in custody.

It’s not being suggested that his attempts to sell his story have broken any laws, or that there has been any wrongdoing by Lamarre-Condon’s mother.

The former constable, 29, is facing two counts of domestic violence-related murder and one count of break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence.

Police allege he shot the two men at Baird’s inner Sydney home on February 19 last year before eventually turning himself in to police on February 23.

Days later, the bodies were discovered on February 27 inside surfboard bags near a rural property in Bungonia, near Goulburn, around 200 kilometres southwest of Sydney.

Lamarre-Condon was officially removed from the NSW Police force mid-March 2024.

Earlier this year, it was reported he would undergo psychiatric testing before he considers entering pleas. Mid-May, the court heard a forensic psychiatric report was received and Lamarre-Condon’s Legal Aid lawyer Alex Curnick was granted a four week adjournment to June 17, per The Australian.
