Beatles' Sir Paul McCartney tells fans he prefers public transport to his Aston Martin

Super-rich Paul McCartney has a fleet of luxury cars yet still yearns for a ticket to ride... the bus or train.

Macca, 79, could hop into his Aston Martin DB5 but has told fans he is a huge fan of public transport.

He said: “I just like buses. I like trains too. Once you got on [the bus] you had that half hour to look around and I liked observing Liverpool and the people.”

The Beatles legend told how the bus “creeps in everything” including the lyrics to A Day in the Life from the band’s iconic Sgt Pepper’s album.

Macca, who was launching new book The Lyrics, said: “I do dream of Liverpool. I dreamed a bunch of tunes.

“Let It Be was a dream. I didn’t realise it was a line from Hamlet either. You don’t really know where it is coming from.”

But one dream for his native city which he thinks is misguided is earmarking £2million of taxpayers’ cash for a Beatles museum. He believes it could be better spent.

Critics blasted the plan as “pointless” as the money would only go towards developing a business case and not building a museum.

Liverpool already two museums dedicated to The Fab Four, plus their old haunt The Cavern, each band member’s old house, a Beatles Week festival and numerous city tours.

Some say it should be spent on music venues, youth centres and arts education.
