Beat the Chasers fans outraged as Jenny Ryan punches Paul Sinha for slip-up

Beat the Chasers' Jenny Ryan stunned viewers with her competitiveness after she punched co-star Paul Sinha for getting the answer to a question wrong.

In Wednesday night's show, one of the contestants, Jane, admitted she was on the show mostly to meet her celebrity crush Bradley Walsh but to also try her hand at winning some money, which she managed to do with only a second to spare.

As she played against Anne 'The Governess' Hegerty, Paul 'The Sinnerman' Sinha and Jenny 'The Vixen' Ryan, a question came up about Star Wars.

But Paul 50, slipped up causing Jenny to punch him in the arm in frustration.

Paul slipped up on a Star Wars question (ITV)

The Chasers were asked: "In Star Wars, Tauntaun lizards live on what snowy planet?" with Paul jumping in saying: "Tatooine."

The answer was actually Hoth, which Jenny made perfectly clear that she knew.

The pair were seen in an awkward staredown until they were asked another question.

Stunned by the tense moment, viewers took to Twitter to comment on it, with one saying: "Did Jenny seriously punch Paul in the arm for getting something wrong?"

Fans were stunned by the outburst (ITV)

Another said: "When Jenny starts thumping Paul, this is golden!!!"

And a third added: "That was nasty the Vixen hitting The Sinnerman."

Paul later took to social media himself to explain the situation quickly justifying Jenny's actions to curious viewers.

Paul later responded to viewers concerns on Twitter (ITV)

He wrote: "I know Sweet FA about Star Wars. It just wasn't my question to answer. I just heard a hard T sound twice and assumed the answer must be Tatooine.

"We make mistakes. Jenny was right to be angry. Neither of us were [right] to stare at each other. Both of us had totally forgotten that the next question was ours."

He added: "In that four seconds, both of us looked ridiculous. It was exhilarating at the time, and p**s funny as well. It is funny when things go wrong.

"I didn't make the same mistake again, Jenny never punched anyone again.

"After nine months of lockdown, loss of work, rules, regulations, frustration - it felt amazing to get punched by a great friend in a totally farcical incident."

As a result of the Chasers' mistakes, Jane won the round and managed to earn a whopping £10,000.
