Beat The Chasers contestant has a terrible start but wins £50k

A celebrity contestant on Beat The Chasers had a terrible start but landed himself with £50k by the final.

Bradley Walsh was back hosting the quiz where contestants are given the option of playing multiple Chasers for increasing amounts of money, but with a decreasing time advantage against them.

Play sees questions swap from contestant to the Chasers.

But if a contestant gets a question wrong and their individual or team clock keeps counting down until a question is answered correctly. First to run out of time loses the game.

Famous faces were once again competing against quizzing pros Mark Labbett, Anne Hegerty, Jenny Ryan, Shaun Wallace and Darragh Ennis in the hope of winning money for their chosen charities.

Tonight, presenter Gregg Wallace, comedian Dom Joly, Loose Women's Brenda Edwards, actor Jake Wood and broadcaster Krishnan Guru Murthy all took on the Chasers.

Up first was Dom Jolly who had a rather unfortunate cash builder and only secured £1,000.

But going into the head to head, Dom took a gamble and rather than just facing Anne and Mark, he opted to go against all five Chasers for £50k.

The Chasers gave Dom a 16-second time advantage, convinced they could beat him.

But he surprised everyone when he smashed the final with 30 seconds still to go on his clock.

Bradley was equally as stunned saying: "Just look at the face on The Beast.

"You got absolutely whacked."

Dom said: "I'm so happy."

Dom revealed his £50k would go to Ataxia UK charity.
