Beat 106 radio station returns with legendary DJs Simon Foy and Trevor Reilly

Legendary Scottish dance radio station Beat 106 is back.

Broadcasting began today (Wednesday) at 1:06pm, promising to resume its commitment to bringing Scottish audiences the very best dance anthems all day and the best DJs all night, seven days a week.

Beat 106 originally launched in November 1999. After being bought in July 2000, the station was re-branded and ceased broadcasting as Beat 106 in 2005.

The station is set to broadcast all forms of dance music, from big-room house to techno and trance – thanks to a number of heavyweight DJ’s including Lisa Littlewood, Trevor Reilly, Roger Sanchez and Paul Van Dyk.

Trevor Reilly, who will take ownership of the Friday night show (7-9pm), said: “Scotland has a long-standing love affair with dance music. We have some of the best DJ’s, club nights and venues in the world, but sadly no radio station to support the industry that’s based and broadcasting here in Scotland. Well, until now.”

He added: “I’m delighted to be part of the Beat 106 Scotland team and I truly hope that the people of Scotland embrace the new station; anyone that loves dance music, this station is for you. Tune in, turn it up and get it up and get involved.”

The new station will feature some of the world’s best DJ’s across 26 shows. Today’s inaugural show opened with the final track played before Beat 106 finished broadcasting in 2005, ‘God is a DJ’ by Faithless. The second track played, ‘Café Del Mar’ by Energy 52, is the result of a week-long Poll Vote held on the station’s Facebook page, which has already amassed more than 12,000 followers.

Owner and project founder, Richard Wilkinson said, “We’re so excited to welcome back our original listeners, but also to appeal to Beat’s next generation. While we are back with a bang with many of the original line-up of DJ’s, we have exciting plans to expand our programme to support new and emerging talent too. This is 100% a new incarnation of Beat 106 Scotland and we can’t wait for listeners to tune in.”

Listeners can tune-in via the website or by downloading the ‘Beat 106 Scotland’ FREE App via Google Play and Apple Store.
