‘Beast Mode’ can now be found in the dictionary

Well, this is quite the fun bit of news this weekend. Fans of the Seattle Seahawks have become accustomed very well to the phrase “Beast Mode” thanks to the efforts of beloved star running back Marshawn Lynch. Now, fans can enjoy it as an actual word.

Yes, you read that right. It’s now an actual word/phrase that is now in the dictionary! Merriam-Webster added it, along with nearly 700 words and phrases.

Of course, the phrase came into the popular Seattle vernacular following Lynch’s iconic touchdown run in the 2010 Wild Card game against the New Orleans Saints. Leading 34-30, the Seahawks were on the verge of an upset, but still needed points to help ice the game. Enter: Lynch, who bulldozed his way into the end zone and NFL immortality.

Thanks to Lynch’s efforts, the Seahawks would hold on to upset the defending World Champion Saints 41-36 to become the first below-.500 team to win a playoff game.
