Bearsden crash sees cyclist rushed to hospital with serious injuries

Police are appealing for information following a serious road crash involving a van and a cyclist in Bearsden.

Officers were called to Drymen Road at its junction with Station Road at around 4.30pm yesterday (April 14) after a report of a crash between a white Volkswagen Caddy van and a cyclist.

Emergency services attended and the 47-year-old male cyclist was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment of serious injuries.

There was no requirement for a road closure.

Sergeant Ally Johnson, of Police Scotland’s Glasgow Road Policing Unit, said: “A man has sustained serious injuries as a result of this incident and we are looking for assistance from the public to establish the full circumstances.

“If you were in the area at the time of the crash and have any information that could assist with our enquiries please get in contact with police.

“I would also ask if anyone driving in the area has possible dashcam footage that they get in contact with officers.

“Police can be contacted by calling 101 and quoting incident number 2830 of Wednesday, 14 April, 2021.”
