Bearsden Boxing Day crash victim dies from her injuries after car hit seven pedestrians

A woman has died a week after she was struck by a vehicle in a horror Boxing Day smash in Bearsden.

Emergency services rushed to the scene on Manse Road in the East Dunbartonshire town after a Land Rover hit a parked vehicle.

The 60-year-old victim was one of seven pedestrians to be taken to hospital after the incident.

The woman had been in a critical condition at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital before she tragically passed away on Thursday, January 2.

Two other women, aged 21 and 65, and a 15-year-old boy were also badly injured in the incident. They were taken to hospital where they were described as being in a serious but stable condition after being initially assessed.

Another two females, aged 45 and 52, and a 50-year-old man had minor injuries.

A 64-year-old female driver involved in the incident was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary as a precaution after the crash.

Police Scotland have now launched another appeal for information in connection with the incident following news of the fatality.

A spokesperson for the force said: “A full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

“Officers at the Road Policing Unit are continuing to establish the full circumstances and are re-appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to contact them.

“Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 2520 of December 26, 2019.”
