Bears WR Taylor Gabriel says he’ll play next week vs. Saints

One of the goals for the Chicago Bears going into their bye week was to get their banged-up players healthy for the final 11-game stretch.

Players such as QB Mitchell Trubisky (left shoulder), DE Bilal Nichols (hand) and others have been progressing through their injuries, working to make it back on the field. Now, another key weapon is confirming he should be good to go and ready to make his return.

Receiver Taylor Gabriel, who was last seen popping off for three touchdowns against the Washington Redskins in Week 3, left the game due to a concussion. The injury kept him out of the next two games against the Minnesota Vikings and the Oakland Raiders. But the explosive receiver is ready to suit up next Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.

On Saturday morning, Gabriel tweeted how much he missed playing football the last couple weeks and confirmed he plans to play on Sunday.

The timing couldn’t be better for “Turbo” as he was the catalyst for the Bears’ offensive breakout performance against the Redskins in Week 3. He caught six passes for 75 yards and three scores to help the lead the Bears to a 31-15 win.

Despite missing the last couple of games, he still leads the team in touchdowns (3) and is second among wide receivers in yards, trailing only receiver Allen Robinson.

Coach Matt Nagy has yet to comment on Gabriel’s status going into Week 7, but barring any setbacks, the receiver says he’s primed to take the field and provide the passing game with a boost that currently ranks 30th in the league in net passing yards per game.
