Bears WR Anthony Miller says he was ‘busted up’ during playoff loss to Eagles

Bears wide receiver Anthony Miller may end up being one of the most important players on Chicago’s offense not just in 2019, but for the foreseeable future. After just one season in the NFL, he’s already proven to be one of the toughest receivers in the league.

Miller suffered a painful shoulder dislocation in Week 3 against the Cardinals last season, an injury that kept him out of just one game but admitted Friday at Bears training camp that he was never quite right the rest of the season.

He declined to put a percentage on how healthy he was during Chicago’s playoff loss to the Eagles, but revealed he was nowhere close to 100%.

“That was all heart,” Miller said via the Chicago Sun-Times. “You can’t really put a percentage on that. But I was definitely busted up. I wasn’t myself the entire season. So you’ll get that this season.”

Heart and toughness are traits that usually separate good players from great ones, and the Bears expect Miller to be great.

He’s up for the challenge.

“I’m very excited, because now, not only am I more accustomed to the offense, the rest of the guys are as well. Mitch knows the playbook way better. We do as well. It’s just gonna be a way smoother season than last year, even though we did really good last year.”
