Bears wide receiver Allen Robinson was voted the 93rd best player in the league his peers as part of NFL Network’s The Top 100 Players of 2020 preseason show.
Robinson is coming off one of his best seasons after catching 98 passes for 1,147 yards and seven touchdowns last season despite the Bears ranking 24th in passer rating. He accounted for nearly one-third of the team’s passing offense.
“Unbelievable,” coach Matt Nagy said when Robinson wasn’t voted to the NFC roster for the Pro Bowl. “That word snub — A-Rob is unbelievable and needs to be in the Pro Bowl.”
As valuable as he has been to the Bears, it appears likely Robinson will report for training camp Tuesday without a new contract. It was once thought to be automatic that the team would sign him to an extension, and Robinson said publicly he wanted one, but it hasn’t happened. Without one, he will play out the final year of his three-year, $42 million deal and hit free agency in spring.
Robinson, 26, has 355 catches, 4,749 yards and 33 touchdowns in essentially five NFL seasons (he played just one game in 2017 because of a torn ACL).
