Bears WR Allen Robinson not worried about contract extension

Allen Robinson has been the most consistent weapon on the Chicago Bears’ offense over the last two seasons. Which is why the Bears would do well to keep him on their roster for the long term.

Robinson is entering the final year of his contract with the Bears, and he’s made it clear that he wants to remain in Chicago for the rest of his career. With the coronavirus pandemic, there’s some uncertainty about the future salary cap. But Robinson isn’t worried about getting a new deal right now.

“If something gets done, something gets done,” Robinson said, via SI.com. “But at the end of the day that’s left up to the Bears and my agent. But for me personally, to be quite honest, I don’t really concern myself with that too much.

“I’m just looking forward to this 2020 season. I’m definitely excited for it. I’m definitely ready to get going. Whatever happens, happens.”

Robinson has been one of general manager Ryan Pace’s best free-agent signings, and re-signing him should be a priority. Robinson was the lone bright spot on Chicago’s inconsistent offense last season, where he nabbed 98 catches for 1,147 yards and seven touchdowns.

Earlier this offseason, Robinson said that there had been conversation about an extension with Bears brass, but it wasn’t necessarily contract talks. He said discussion about a possible extension remained in a “very minimal stage.”
